How to pay for WWU Summer Field Camp

Field camp is an expensive proposition. It is not subsidized by the State of Washington as most courses are. This makes tuition expensive. Further, it uses vans to move around the western U.S., which must be rented and filled with fuel many times. Finally, some group expenses come out of fees, when these items make sense to purchase as a group (e.g., large propane tanks, coolers, etc.)

Paying for course fees

Paying for field camp happens in two parts. The course fees (which pay for the vans, coolers, and such) must be paid first (see schedule), and this is a sort of deposit. There are multiple ways to pay the fees, but in any case the account number must be included with the payment. We encourage you to get a special payment card from Chris Sutton in ES240 that has the number printed on it.

The course fees must be paid in two parts: an early deposit (see schedule for due date), and then a later payment of the remaining amount. If you choose not to attend, then your deposit will eventually get refunded, but not until all of the course accounting is done, sometime late in Fall quarter.

Paying for tuition and WWU fees

In addition the WWU tuition and fees must also be paid. This can be accomplished online using the Web for Students. Note that Vicki will be sending a list of students taking the course to the registrar, and these students will have certain fees exempted (the Health Service Fee, Technology Fee, and the Recreation Center Fee), because you won't be on campus for the course.
